The philosophy of Integral Yoga is explored through a videotaped talk by IYI's founder, Sri Swami Satchidananda, followed by an informal discussion. With Thomas Amelio. One of the most powerful and complete means for awakening, healing and transformation is chakra practice. Central to the yoga tradition, chakras are spiritual, psychological and emotional energy centers that exist within the human subtle body. In this class we will explore the unique purpose and function of each chakra. Ideally each works in harmony with the  rest; however, for most, their full expression is hampered by long-held negative conditionings and suppressions karmas). This results in a disharmony of function—for example, a fifth chakra calling to self-express and have our talents shine can be inhibited by a first chakra fear of losing safety and security. The yogic approach to addressing these disharmonies offers time-tested, experiential, vibrational and energetic practices to purify the chakras and bring them into full radiant expression. We will explore mantras, symbols and archetypes associated with the chakras— including the five elements—and the yogic practices of vichara (inquiry), pranayama (breath practice), mudra (hand seals), bandha (energy locks) and kumbhak (breath holding) to bring greater clarity and harmony to our inner and outer lives.

The purpose of this workshop is to deepen our ability to teach with touch. We can do this by seeing the energetic anatomy and geometric structure of different body types in a variety of asanas. Once we are able to "see", then we can address what we see and offer effective hands-on adjustments. We will explore different types of adjustments, such as the difference between "light touching" and "smashing" as well as offering key verbal ques. Not only will we address how to assist students to avoid future injury, we will learn how to not injure ourselves in the process.

After four years of living in the forests of Hawaii in solitude, Eddy Nataraj was inspired to share kirtan.  He says, "I moved to Seattle in 2000, and I began devoting myself entirely to the guitar. I began dreaming about life on the beach in Hawaii. So I sold everything I owned, put my life into a backpack, grabbed my acoustic guitar and bought a one way ticket to Kauai, Hawaii. The moment I set foot on Hawaii, my anxiety literally disappeared, forever. It wasn't long before I had created a psychedelic rock band called Vintage.

With Julia Graves. Flower Essences are energetic preparations that have an immediate effect on the subtle body, and by extension, physical body. Taken internally, they can dramatically rebalance the energetic body, quickly dispelling emotional disturbances in meditation and daily life. Applied externally, they can address postural misalignment, as well as significantly reduce/dispel chronic muscular tension. Flower Essences can also aid in healing past emotional trauma that has been stored in the muscles. In this workshop for yoga teachers and students alike, participants will learn the essences for common yoga issues. Each participant will have the opportunity to explore first-hand the physical and mental effects of flower essences.

What we take into our bodies greatly effects how we feel, think, and decides the strength we have to face life. When we are stuck in any way, changing what we eat greatly frees our mind, body and spirit. For centuries people have turned to food to heal and uplift themselves. The “Yogi Cleanse” is a chance for you to be in the company of other highly spirited people, and to pool our energies, and support one another through a time of deep change. The Yogi Cleanse with Amanbir Singh supports you on all levels in this week of Transformation. The morning yoga classes allow us to meet, relax and strengthen our physical bodies, and then spend time sharing what we are going through. Together we join our minds & spirits to help one another “Keep Up.” Join us as we lighten our bodies for the summer, lighten our consciousness for the Aquarian Age revolution, and experience the joy that comes from focusing on our deep deep expansion together, as Siblings of Destiny.

With Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Hari-Kirtana Das. Sanskrit is the sacred language of yoga. In this workshop we will focus our attention on transliterated Sanskrit - Sanskrit as it is written using the Roman alphabet and pronunciation cues called 'diacritics' - rather than on learning the Sanskrit alphabet. We'll work on developing our proficiency in proper pronunciation and in recognizing pronunciation cues, explore the word constructions and meanings of the names of yoga postures and common terms of yoga philosophy, and we'll look at the difference between mantras such as the mystical phrases of the ancient Upanishads, sutras or codified transmissions such as those in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and slokas such as the poetic verses of the Bhagavad-gita. This workshop will be of particular interest to yoga teachers who want to develop confidence in their chanting and instructional use of Sanskrit in classes and workshops. It will also be of interest to yoga practitioners who want to explore the language in which yoga philosophy is most concisely expressed.

With Paula (Lynch) Liberis. In each of these workshops, we will begin by mapping the region of study in the musculo-skeletal structure through imagery, lecture and discussion. This will lead to finding bony landmarks on the body and ways to locate the muscles in that region. A movement practice will follow, enabling participants to explore the region in new ways in their own asana and movement practices. We will conclude with a deep relaxation attempting to eradicate unconscious holding patterns that can often contribute to a lack of awareness and mobility in the region. No previous anatomy study necessary. If you have a body and can move, you are most welcome. Handouts will be provided.

Backbends can be some of the most exhilarating and fun poses in the asana practice, but they can also be challenging if our bodies are not strong and open enough to create adequate length in the spine. We will work on building core strength that will free the spine to lengthen evenly, making all of your backbends more integrated and easeful.

With Cyndi Lee: Opening the Gates. We will explore methods for unlocking the gates that prevent us from experiencing the confidence, balance and wakefulness that arise naturally when the body's channels are open. Our map is the Tibetan Buddhist/Bon 6 chakra system which strengthens our practice as we move up and purifies as we move down. Through an active, uplifting asana practice - deep twists leading to chest, throat openers and inversions - we will rouse our energy to create a sense of strength, joy and lightness. To balance our pranic flow, we will then work back down the spine with a purifying, earthy sequence. Along the way we will explore the enlightened and unenlightened aspects of each chakra (did you know the sole of the foot chakra relates to both love and anger?) as a path toward recognizing our own habitual patterns.

There is nothing to do but listen with attention and allow the mind to dissolve. Learn how to apply this approach to healing the mind in your own life, with your own situations. Clean deep, start fresh! This 2-hour workshop with Patricia gets well beneath skin deep, like a soothing day at the spa for your insides - you'll be cleaning out your physical and energetic bodies and working to clarify your mind. Yoga is an excellent source of daily maintenance; think of this workshop as Spring Cleaning for yourself. Get rid of the old, stale patterns and start fresh after a stagnant Winter with more energy, joy, motivation, and an overall sense of renewal. After traditional cleansing kriyas (breath and energy work), banda strengthening, sweaty, energetic, detoxifying vinyasa, and purposeful meditation, you'll float out of Yoga High and into the world lighter on all levels. It's like how your car feels after being detailed, your closet after you've put away coats and sent old clothes to Goodwill, your pores feel after a facial, your...you get the idea. And all this for your deepest, most true self - body and soul. Intensify the cleansing with a juice, raw food, or Ayurvedic detox the week before if you're already experienced with these diets. If you've never "done a cleanse" before, you can schedule a quickie consult with Patricia and make a plan for yourself with her, or schedule a few Ayurvedic-yoga privates the week before for the most guidance and support. This last option is highly recommended if you're serious about committing to a big, lasting change in your diet and in your health.

Pregnancy is a transformative & natural process that every person on the planet has experienced-the baby is physically born, the woman becomes a mother & the partner changes electromagnetically. This very special series led by Sohkana Mabin creatively acknowledges the various aspects of birth as the woman journeys between conception, gestation & birth. Through the ancient science of yoga & meditation, supported by dance, anatomy, & herbs, we remember that birth is the most sacred ritual & we are the temple. Each class is a micro-workshop you won't want to miss. Developed by Sokhna Heathyre Mabin~ mother, doula, herbalist, yoga teacher & artist. Beneficial at Any Stage of Pregnancy. No Previous Experience Necessary. (Beginners to Yoga Most Welcome)

Our Posture Clinics with Senior DYRT Bernadette Duthu offer an opportunity for students and teachers to delve into specific types of postures in depth, for how to personally practice them, proper alignment, correct intention, and an understanding of the practical, physical and mental benefits. The sessions are held in a relaxed and open manner allowing for questions and personal support. Spinal twist postures invigorate the spine, and help to make it more flexible, youthful and healthy. They massage the internal organs and renew them with fresh rich oxygenated blood, as well as detoxifying them. The practice of spinal twists keep the spinal discs lubricated and functioning well, and help maintain their effectiveness.  Spinal twist postures involve the pelvis and hips, as this is where the root of the spine emanates from.  Flexible hips support both the spine and our ability to have pain free movement in our daily lives, as in walking, sitting, and standing. This clinic welcomes all levels of students to attend and is a wonderful and informative adjunct to regular practice.

Yoga for Difficult Times with Swami Ramananda. We live in an age characterized by an increasing sense of insecurity. The specter of a fragile economy looms over us, and our workaholic culture is rampant with greed, deception, and "Image is everything" messages. When we are anxious or under pressure, we often make poor choices that make things worse. In this workshop, Ramananda will present the distilled wisdom of all the Yoga teachings as practical principles that lead to productive action. We will explore how to integrate these teachings into every aspect of our lives and see how, ultimately, every difficult situation can offer an opportunity for us to grow more aware and deepen our connection to the unchanging source of life within us.

Wah! intricately weaves the human experience into Kirtan, guiding all of us on a journey of self-love and acceptance through her music. Her spiritual approach to music inspires the listener back to the realization that we can collectively change our past and future karma through chanting. Her concerts have been described as a "music bath to the soul". Influenced by the music of Bob Marley, Ravi Shankar, John Cage / Merce Cunningham and Sade, Wah! combines the devotional tradition of Hindu chanting, which dates back more than 500 years to Renaissance India, with contemporary sounds of pop and reggae. The result is a splendid mix of sacred world music.
