Soul Food Prepares For Full Moon
A few years ago, I started seed cycling, which means eating certain seeds from full moon to new moon and others from new moon to full moon. It was recommended to me as a vegetarian alternative to fish oils to find hormonal balance. Overall well-being increased once I adapted this technique. I find making a batch of granola is a great way to stay with the cycle and honor the feminine moon energy. (The next full moon starts 8:05am on Tuesday, October 27.)
Full Moon Granola Ingredients:
6 cups oats
2 cups almonds, or other nut
1 cup sesame seeds
1 cup shredded coconut
1 tsp. cardamom
2 tbsp. raw cocoa
2/3 cup sunflower oil
2/3 cup maple syrup, or honey
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chia seeds
Salt to taste
Instructions:
Bake at 225 degrees, stirring every 20 minutes until brown (approximately 40 to 60 minutes). Once cool, add chia seeds and a pinch of salt.
